How to create a Custom 404 Error Page
October 13th, 2009
At times, your users request pages on your website which do not exist, this could be due to various reasons. Old deleted pages which are still cached on the search engines or spelling error while you were creating a link to some internal page. Whatever the reason, the visitor gets an ugly 404 error page. Most of us these days custom build a 404 error page so as to give out website visitors a friendly warning message and a link to surf on ahead.
Custom 404 error pages can be easily built from the cPanel and do not require you to edit .htaccess
1. Log on to your cPanel.
2. Scroll down to see the Advance Tab and then click on Error Pages.

3. Select the domain you want to manage (only if you have multiple domains on the same account)
4. Click on 404 (not found).

5. Here you can cut paste your custom HTML page.
6. Press Save.
This is all you need to do to create your custom 404 error page.
