Getting the Sent folder in your Outlook sync with the Sent folder on Webmail

March 2nd, 2010

If you are like me who downloads his email to either Outlook Express or MS Outlook and when using webmail on a different computer you are sometimes at a loss as you do not have any emails in your sent folder and even other folders which you might have created on Outlook then i have a simple solution for you.

This a common issue and a very simple one to solve, to get your sent folder in Outlook in sync with your sent folder on Webmail you need to setup your email account on Outlook as IMAP and not as POP3, the rest of the setting would remain the same. Only IMAP has the ability to sync other folders apart from just Inbox.

PayPal RBI Finally come to a Truce

February 27th, 2010

Below is the mail i got today from PayPal… They have finally resolved the payment issue with RBI but what worries me is the Export Code, does this mean that only Exporters can transact online via PayPal? There are thousands of Individuals who do not have an Export code… what happens to them? Will they manipulate the system by entering any random export code in the PayPal form?
———-
We have been diligently working with the RBI and our business partners to resume Indian bank withdrawals for the thousands of Indian businesses who depend on PayPal to sell their goods or services in the global marketplace.

Today, we are happy to announce that the RBI has allowed us to continue local bank withdrawals for settlements for exports of goods and services. We are currently making changes to comply with Indian regulations for settlements for exports of goods and services, and we anticipate that, as of Wednesday, March 3rd, customers will be able to use our bank withdrawal service.

As part of the changes, you will be required to fill out a new field entitled ‘Export Code’ when you request a withdrawal. This information is required under the current laws of India in order to identify the nature of cross-border merchant transactions.

On Monday, March 1st, we will be back in touch with specific instructions on how you can move your money into your bank account.

Moving forward, the RBI has told us that PayPal needs specific approvals to allow personal remittances to India, which we currently do not have. Until we get these approvals, personal payments into India will remain suspended. However, if you are an exporter, you will continue to be able to use the PayPal service for payments of goods and services. In fact, with the changes we are making to our system, PayPal is now set to be a more powerful engine for exporters in India. With purpose codes for export transactions and FIRCs (Foreign Inward Remittance Certificates), you should now be able to get the export related benefits you seek.

Our Hosting Clients Gets Featured in HT – easy2commute.com

February 13th, 2010

Congrats to both Ambrish Bajaj and Abhishek Rajan.

A renewable energy consultant with an MNC, started working in DLF Cyber City, Gurgaon. The congestion on the roads and air pollution caused by the ever-increasing number of cars left him shocked. “Traffic in Gurgaon is maddening. Many of my colleagues complained of breathing problems due to the high air pollution levels. I wanted to do something about it,” says Bajaj.

So, in March 2009, he launched easy2commute.com, with his friend Abhishek Rajan.

It’s a first of its kind NCR-centric website, which has about 3,000 areas/localities in its database to choose from. The website uses a smart technology to suggest available car pools in the vicinity of the user’s office/home.

What makes the webWhat makes the website unique is the fact that it makes car-pooling user friendly and secure, you can register on it using only your company e-mail id. Besides, it provides the option of gender (you can opt for an all-female car pool) and `secure users’ (whose credential have been confirmed by their employers). Today, about 26 per cent of the total users on the website are verified corporate users and 27 per cent are females.

“We approached many corporate houses to encourage their employees to use the carpool and the response has been encouraging,” he says.

Today, the website has about 3,500 users and adds 200 more every week. “People are willing to leave their cars at home if they can find a safe and convenient car pool,” says Bajaj.

In fact, easy2commute.com, one of the 52 entries at the Hindustan Times Brightest Young Climate Leaders, was also chosen by the Delhi HalfMarathon 2009 to promote carpooling among 30,000 carpool runners.

Difference between 301 Permanent and 302 Temporary Redirect

February 12th, 2010

Permanent 301
They are permanent redirects from an old URL to a new one. These redirects tell the search engines that the old location is to be removed from their index and replaced with the new location. Using 301 redirects is the most search engine friendly way to redirect traffic and engines, and far out weighs that of various JavaScript and Meta refresh redirects.

A 301 permanent redirect will notify the visitor’s browser to update any bookmarks that are linked to the page that is being redirected.

Temporary 302
Here you are telling the search engines to read and use the content on the new page, but to keep checking the original URL first as it will ultimately be reestablished.

A 302 Temporary redirects will not update the visitor’s bookmark.
